In spite setting up a veterinary expert committee at the Nehru Zoological Park, animals are dying due to seasonal diseases. A leopard died due to “septisemia” and a Lion cub due to “nephrities”. Zoo officials say that the cause of deaths of the animals is not due to under nourishment nor poor veterinary care. The seasonal deaths occur due to bacterial infection, stress and old age senility. The Nehru Zoological Park, houses more than 160 species and nearly 1,500 specimens such as mammals, birds, reptile’s apes and monkeys.
