Mamidi Sai AkashAn Intermediate student Mamidi Sai Akash is just a little more than 17 years but has been honoured by the Guinness World Records for his achievements in the last two years. His initiatives are public centric and have been proven to be successful. He is the founder of Mother Blood Bank which is an online portal for donors to meet the recipients and vice versa. www.motherbloodbank.com was inaugurated by former president APJ Abdul Kalam.

Sai Akash was awarded a place in the Guinness World Records after accomplishing the feat of enrolling as many as 1.75 lakh members as donors in the website and organsing camps with 1.02 lakh donors at various parts of 18 cities. He embarked on this massive public awareness programme on April 21.

Akash studies at FIITJEE in Hyderabad but almost spends his energy and efforts on creating things and inventing platforms that make public requirements much easier. He was motivated to start the blood bank after his friend suffered due to lack of blood at the right time. Since then, he has made good groundwork for creating a website, promoting it and enlightening people and volunteers of its benefits.

Once you enter the site and type the information of the required blood group, state and city, the contact numbers of the donors will appear enabling the recipients’ to contact them for emergency. Not just that, Akash recently developed a mobile phone application titled, ‘Modi Yoga’ which he launched on the International Day for Yoga. The application contains the information and theory of 12 Asanas that can be practiced at home.
