400 students get scholarships worth 11 lakh

Sri Sai Aradhana Kshetram distributed scholarships worth Rs 11 lakh to about 400 poor students at a programme held in the city on Sunday. Former MLA Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao who participated in the programme as a chief guest, exhorted the poor students to excel in their studies and realise its importance to achieve social and economic empowerment. Education is an effective tool to eradicate poverty in the country, he said.

Aradhana Kshetram president T Venkata Hanumantha Rao said their motto was promotion of literacy. The organisation has been providing scholarships to poor students of the city for the past nine years to enable them to pursue higher education and professional courses, he said. Organisation secretary G Prasada Rao, Education Committee chairman CA Penugonda Subbarayudu, treasurer M Mohan Rao and others were present.
