Two new Microsoft Lumias – codenamed Talkman and Cityman – rumoured to be the next-gen flagship Lumias, may come with iris scanners to unlock phones in under a second. A possible launch is expected at the Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA) consumer electronics trade show in Berlin in September.

The smaller of the two, Talkman, will have a 5.2-inch 2,560 x 1,440 pixel display, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, a 20-megapixel rear camera (coupled with a 5-megapixel selfie cam), 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 3,000mAh removable battery. The larger, 5.7-inch Cityman (Lumia 950 XL) has similar specs, with main differences being an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, and a 3,300mAh removable battery.

Both devices will reportedly have support for Qi wireless charging, as well as an infrared iris scanner, which will be used to unlock the device in less than a second. The devices are expected to be thin with a matte polycarbonate body in either black or white. There is no official confirmation on the report from Microsoft. However, Windows Phone users are hopeful for the coming of such a device.
