Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma conducted the customary Special Task Force (STF) meeting on Tuesday. Among the key decisions taken in the meeting, the speeding up of work so that barricades on roads could be removed was of key importance.The Chief Secretary was keen on setting time targets for L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) and direct attention to shift water, sewer and electrical lines at Musheerabad-Narayanaguda and Madhuranagar-Yousufguda-Krishnanagar stretches.


Dr Sharma directed the commissioner and special commissioner of GHMC to share the junction improvement plans in the metro corridors with traffic police and to take their inputs before going for tenders. The integration of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) with existing rail terminals, MMTS stations and bus depots also came up for discussion.


“Till date 1,967 foundations (52 km) and 1860 pillars (49 km) have been laid and that 47 km of the total 72 km viaduct has been completed. However, 103 properties are yet to be acquired for road widening in metro corridors out of which few properties like Transstroy building in Jubilee Hills, Rehmat complex at Ameerpet, Nandakumar/ Padmahamsa apartments, RAK ceramics building at Begumpet are critical for metro rail right of way,” informed NVS Reddy, MD, HMR.
