Railway employees plead for a better work atmosphere

SCR Mazdoor Union Loco Running Staff of Secunderabad Depot consisting of loco pilots and assistant loco pilots held dharna on Monday in front of the chief crew controller’s office,at Secunderabad Railway station. They were protesting against the horrible working conditions imposed by the management and various other issues relating to their service conditions and rules, which are against the interest and welfare of the large number of running staff, who are the backbone of the railway Industry.

Siva Kumar, Divisional Secretary, SCRMU, said, “Running Staff are made to do all the management’s dirty jobs like link charts violations, disturbing crew links, trains, with actuate crew position, non implementation of PNM (Permanent Negotiating Member) decision to issue transfer orders of SNF (Sanathnagar),loco pilots non grant of leaves and rests and safety lapse to passengers and to the property of railways.”

He, also added that there are 450 loco pilots, which has two women in all categories in Secunderabad Depot, who are exposed to various types harassment in their working conditions. They are deprived of a family life and social life leading to health hazards, including depression, frustration, while discharging their duties. There are 200 vacancies of running staff in different categories not filled for over three years, directing the heavy burden on the existing acute staff, whose lives are exposed to risks, with the passengers lives in their hands.

He said that if their demands are not met and working conditions are not improved at the earliest possible, they will be forced to hold dharnas with their family and children in front of the concerned authorities.
