Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) authorities on Monday took up a mega demolishion drive of unauthorised structures. "The Pearl Palace" a noted function hall located in Bunglow No 151 ( A ) B.3 Old Grant, GLR No 732,spread over in 1.67 acres at Sappers lane in Balamraihad its buildings brought down to rubble, as the City Civil Court, Secunderabad had vacated the stay orders and passed a judgment in favor of SCB for removal of unauthrorised commercial structures.
Sujatha Gupta, CEO of the SCB, said that in compliance to honorable City Civil Court orders, we have razed all the illegal structures consisting of 3 sheds & other Infrastructure including compound wall to the ground. This had sent out a caution to the other lease occupants in Old Grants Bunglows not to violate Cantonment Act 2006 laws, or else they’ll have to face similar actions with more seriousness. The Pearl Palace used to earn Rs 4 crore PA, without authorization.
She said that they have deployed more than 120 people as workforce from SCB, 3 JCBs, and 30 cops for supervision. G Baswa Reddy SHO Begumpet, ensured the demolition with no law and order issue being created, except for in the beginning when people did not allow the SCB employees in and threatened self immolation with bottles of kerosene.
T Kumar, manager of the Pearl Palace, said that the occupant Suresh Agarwal was not made available at the site. He has been working for the past 12 years and maintaining the landscape garden, which belongs to me.
