The city-based Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India (ALEAP) proposes to train 40,000 women in skill development under the Vandamataram scheme being implemented by the Union Ministry of Textiles.

The announcement came from Association President K Ramadevi who said, “The figure will be increased in a phased manner to 40 lakh. The organisation has been entrusted with the task of giving the training by the Ministry, with the aim of providing the opportunity to women to offer employment to others.”

She stated that the training scheme was part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme of providing assistance under the Mudra loans to turn women belonging to SC, ST, BC and weaker sections into entrepreneurs. An additional Rs 10 crore besides the Mudra loans has been allocated for this purpose.

The ALEAP leader appealed to women belonging to the weaker sections to utilise the opportunity to avail themselves of the assistance. She stressed that by doing so women entrepreneurs would not only make their future rosy, but also play a key role in the country’s development.

Ramadevi stressed the need for promoting cottage and small-scale industries, which are being successfully run by women. These women have been showing a way to others to be successful small entrepreneurs.
