“Hypertension is more fatal than other disorders like heart diseases, kidney malfunction and eye related issues. Hypertension can trigger number of disorders in human body, which can lead to multiorgan failure,” said Managing director of VGR Diabetes Hospital Dr Venugopal Reddy.

Addressing the news reporters here on Mondal, Dr Venugopal Reddy said that it is a misconception that severe ailments only show up in people who are above 50 years of age. Owing to the present trends of changing lifestyle and food habits, we see many acute cases of heart diseases, hypertension, and diabetes among youngsters as well.

On the occasion of World Hypertension Day, we wanted to bring out the causes of human body disorders that are triggered by Hypertension. Putting a check to hypertension will save people from further risks, he said.

Hypertension does not show any symptoms for the person to identify and is promptly known as silent killer. Factors like eating habits, stress, smoking and genetics play a pivotal role in putting it under control.

In order to take precautionary measures, one should control their weight, avoid smoking and alcohol, reduce stress and salt in-take besides going for a check- up after 40 years of age. Physical activity should be a practice for children and adults alike, added Dr Venugopal Rao. Dr S Subramanyan Kumar, Dr K Kishore, Dr Siva Prasad and others were present.
