The Telangana Prantha Upadhaya Sangam (TPUS) conducted a Maha Dharna at Indira Park on Wednesday, demanding scrapping of contributory pension scheme.

The agitating members want it to be replaced by old pension scheme and residual issues pertaining to service conditions of the teachers’ community of Telangana State.

T Sai Redy, president of the TPUS, said, “There are more than 2,50,000 teachers working in the entire State, of which 40,000 are from Hyderabad and Rangareddy.

The teachers appointed by the District Selection Committee (DSC) are governed by the contributory pension scheme, which has no periodical promotion policy to experienced and qualified teachers, leading to deprivation of their career growth.

The government is not filling the vacancies from time to time, leading to shortage of teachers at all levels and causing burden to the existing staff.”

The dharna was participated by MLA G Kishan Redyy, secretary Venkat Rao, G Suradheer other office bearers and teachers from the ten districts of the State participated.
