The first Collector of the district Akunuri Murali is confident of facing the challenge and said the administration will rely on ‘smart work’ to achieve better results. Employees play key role in implementing government schemes and they are being asked to adopt smart working style.

The district officials and employees are all asked not to display any laxity in delivering the duties, besides keeping away from corrupt practices. Either laxity or corruption on part of the government staff will not be tolerated, he asserted.

Sharing his views on running affairs of the new district, the District Collector said that the district comprises of tribes population of 1, 23,400 living in agency mandals. The tribes like Koya and Naikpod are still being affected by poverty and lack of proper education.

‘Our first priority is to ensure better education, health services and drinking water to the tribal population along with those living in the district. Efforts will be made to strengthen the government schools, 20 primary health centres and four hospitals here,’ Murali explained The Hans India.

Majority of the habitations in the district are remotely located. There is no regular staff at hospitals and it needs to be addressed. Many children are out of schools. It is being planned to conduct special drives to enrol children in schools and establish more schools in the days to come.

There is a lot of scope for industrial and tourism development as the district has got immense natural resources and places like Medaram Sammakka Saralamma temple and Ramappa Temple, popular across world along with Laknavaram and Bogatha waterfalls.

The works related to a centrally assisted tourism circuit plan to connect all the important tourism spots in the district with an expenditure of Rs 90 crore are underway. Once it is completed, tourism in Jayashanker Bhupalpalli district will pick up, Murali explained.

Similarly, steps are being taken to acquiring land for major irrigation projects like Medigadda, Tupakulagudem and others and soon the civil works will be started. The projects are aimed at irrigating about 46 lakh acres.

There are two important leaders in the district - Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary and Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal. With their active cooperation the district will be developed as a model one, the Collector Murali pointed out.
