Aalankritha Art Gallery celebrated its 13 years’ association with art by organising a functional art show at its premises in Madhapur.

Aalankritha Art Gallery celebrated its 13 years’ association with art by organising a functional art show at its premises in Madhapur.

Featuring 50 artists from the country who brought utility objects and transformed into exclusive art pieces, the theme ‘Out of the frame’ spoke volumes at the show.

On the sidelines of the show, Prashanti Goel, Gallery owner and self-taught artist recollected her tryst with art. “After completing my studies I started as self-taught artist. I was very passionate about it because my mother was an artist and my sister was one too. I wanted to take it up seriously and that’s when I thought of opening an art gallery,” she says.

“We set up in 2003. Many upcoming artists started coming to us and now we host popular names like Pramod Reddy Gade, Gouri Vemula, Ahobhilam Prabhaker and others. You can see how beautiful their pieces are. It makes me proud to say that they all started here.

They are all graduates and masters in fine arts,” she says.Commenting about the show, Prashanti says, “Every artist had to give functional art objects.

It is the same style which they do in frame painting but its presentation is through objects like jewellery boxes, watches, bangle boxes and mirror Buddha’s. Every artist retained their unique impressions on the pieces.”

Elaborating on the theme, she explains, “It means a painting is always within the frame and these pieces are out of the frame. These are called functional art.”

Having a huge heart for art, Aalankritha provides a colossal space for artists and art lovers. Prashanti has curated around 100 shows till date for the gallery. She promotes young and talented artists. She is also an active member of Ikebana International Hyderabad chapter and Indian Institute of Interior Designers.

“Art Gallery displays, exhibits and stocks the finest collection of contemporary and traditional art, sourced from all over the country.

Its fine collection includes India's most sought after artists, credited for their artistic, aesthetic and investment value. The range of art includes serious collectors’ choices and budding artists’ works, waiting to be discovered,” opines Prashanti.

“Aalankritha feels the need to educate the intricacies of art appreciation, in creating awareness on the impact of art on everyday living and the effects of having good art in homes and offices.

Discouraging fake art and deceptive activity the gallery provides an authentic certificate for all its transactions,” she concludes.

The show is on from 11am to 7pm until November 16.
