Nizamabad: Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said that the farmers need not face any problems during this season in cultivating their crops.

Addressing the farmers at Srinagar village of Varni mandal in the district on Wednesday, he said that as there were bountiful rainfall this season, there is sufficient quantities of water for sowing Rabi and Kharif crops.

The Agriculture Minister got on to a tractor and personally went around the fields ploughing the land.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that all the tanks and lakes in the district were completely full due to the heavy rains received this year and as such, farmers could happily take up cultivation without any worries.

He also assured them that there was no shortage of seeds and
fertilizers.

Pocharam said that farmers could also take loans from banks and urged them to repay loans regularly without delay. He said that subsidies would be provided for buying agricultural machinery and the seeds.

He advised the farmers to take suggestions from the specialists. He said that high quality equipment would be provided to the farmers at subsidised rates. He told the farmers to in for crop insurance without fail as natural disasters have become common.

He said that the civil supplies department has passed orders fixing the price of BPT grains at Rs 1800 per quintal.

The Agriculture Minister said that 354 applications have been received from the people in Banswada village for the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes.

He said that cheques would be issued in the name of the mothers and their daughters and all those who were possessing white ration cards were eligible to apply for the scheme.
