Hanamkonda: The City Congress leaders have challenged the ruling party councillors and MLAs under the GWMC to come for an open debate on the construction of double bedroom houses and development of city in TRS rule.Congress city wing president and working president K Srinivasa Rao and Rajanala Srihari speaking to press persons at Congress Bhavan in Hanamkonda on Monday said the TRS leaders were making false claims on the progress of double bedroom houses.

The TRS leaders were claiming that about 1,300 houses were being built at SR Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar in the city. But the works were grounded for only 80 houses. Several residents, whose houses were pulling down on the pretext of constructing double bedroom houses, were thrown onto the roads.

In addition to the quality of the works, where the houses were under construction, was poor and the State government has failed to ensure standards where the houses were being built in the city. “The Congress party is ready to prove the allegations, the TRS leaders should come for debate at a place of their choice,” Srihari asserted.

He said that he would quit Congress and work as an ordinary worker in the TRS if the TRS leaders fail to prove their claims on the progress of double bedroom houses. ‘The TRS leaders should learn to accept the facts and constructive criticism by opposition parties,’ he added.

Srinivasa Rao said the condition of roads and drainages in the city is very bad. The ruling party councillors like T Vidyasagar and others instead of making efforts to address the issues were hitting at opposition. The city minority wing leader, Md Ayub, stated that the TRS government, which promised to provide 12 per cent reservations to Muslims, has failed to deliver the promise even after two and half years rule. The district TRS leaders should explain the reasons for the delay in offering reservations to Muslims. The TRS leaders were busy earning commissions and were not bothered about development, they alleged.
