Adilabad: The Congress party will organize dharnas at the Collectorates in Telangana on January 6 demanding the Centre to ease the problems faced by the people on account of demonetisation.

Speaking to press persons here on Tuesday, former Minister Sabita Indra Reddy alleged that people were still suffering even after 50 days of Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared Rs.1,000 and Rs 500 notes invalid.

She claimed that the step was taken only for enhancing Modi’s prestige and wanted the government to declare how much black money was unearthed so far.

She criticised the PM for remaining silent after claiming that Rs.25 lakh would be deposited in people’s accounts after unearthing black money.

The former Minister stated that the party would also hold a protest at the Jantar-Mantar on January 11 under the leadership of AICC Vice-president Rahul Gandhi. She urged the party cadre to join the ‘chalo Delhi protest programme in large numbers.

While contending that demonetisation has had a serious impact on the people, she demanded the Centre to take steps for solving the problems of farmers. The party, Sabita Reddy said, wanted the Centre to give 20 per cent higher rate than the MSP to farmers.

The government should give tax rebate to small traders in view of the burden caused by ‘notebandi’. She said the daily-wagers were facing hardship following the Centre’s decision. Hence the MGNREGS wages should be doubled along with the number of days.

She expressed anguish that the banks were still not allowing withdrawal of more than Rs.24,000 even after 53 days of demonetisation and demanded dropping of the limit.
