Warangal: A week-long winter special National Service Scheme (NSS) camp was launched at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women East at Palivelpula village on the outskirts of city on Wednesday.

The Officer on Special Duty (Residential degree colleges) at Telangana State Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) B Maruthi Rao has inaugurated the camp.

Addressing the students, he asked them to educate the rural women on the importance of sanitation during the camp. Maintaining better sanitation conditions play an important role in ensuring healthy living of the people.

Hence the college students should visit the women in the village motivate them to make use of toilets, he said. College Principal L Venu suggested the students to organise blood donation camps, counsel women against suicides.

KU NSS programme coordinator S Jyothi, DCO S Vidya Rani, TSWRDC Warangal West principal J Venkateshwarlu, GVC chairman Md Khader Babu, NGSMM president K Rajamma, MPPS headmaster D Vishnumurthy and the college NSS programme officer J Gopalaxmi were present.
