Khammam: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) demanded the State government regularise the services of outsourcing and contract workers.

Speaking at a meeting held in Khammam on Thursday, AITUC state secretary Potu Prasad alleged that municipal officials were collecting money in the name of ESI from workers and when asked the same to return, they were turning a blind eye.

“Due to meagre salaries, workers of municipal, Mid day meal, ASHA and Anganwadi were living in miserable conditions and are unable to provide food and better education to their children,” he said.

He demanded the government pay equal salary for equal work apart from regularising the services of outsourcing and contract workers. Later, the representatives of AITUC submitted a memorandum to the local MLA Puvvada Kumar and urged him to take issues to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and try to solve them as early as possible. AITUC leaders and others attended the meeting.
