​Khammam: Muddalapalli village will become an ideal village in terms of development in near future, said Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao after inaugurating the double bedroom houses here at Muddalapalli in Khammam on Wednesday.

The Minister handed over about 22 houses to the beneficiaries constructed at a cost of Rs.138.38 crore and participated in the housing warming ceremony. He later inaugurated village panchayat building constructed at a cost of Rs 18 lakh and also a Dhobi Ghat that came up at a cost of Rs 5.6 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion, Tummala said the village was adopted to develop it in all fields, and at present as many as 25 developmental activities were under progress in Muddalapalli village. He promised some more houses for the remaining shelter-less would be constructed in the vacant plots available beside the canal.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao introduced the prestigious double bedroom housing scheme to help women live a respectable life in the newly-formed state, and the houses would be given to those beneficiaries selected by the villagers, said the R&B Minister, adding that the government has been spending Rs 5.25 lakh on each house.

District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar stated that about 3,600 double bedroom houses were sanctioned to Khammam, of which the construction works of about 2,340 houses were in progress and would be completed by October end.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadipalli Kavitha, MLC Balasani Lakshminarayana, MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar, District Joint Collector Vinay Krishna Reddy, SC Corporation Chairman Pidamarthi Ravi, TRS leaders Bhudan Baig, Kondabala Koteshwar Rao, Superintending Engineer of R&B Department Lingaiah, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Nagesh, MPP Mellacheruvu Lalitha, ZPTC Dharavath Bharathi, Sarpanch Bhadramma and Tahsildar G Narasimha Rao and others attended the inauguration programme.
