An octogenarian, Manduva Kamala Devi, who passed away at the age 84 in Hanamkonda on Monday, donated her eyes to Ramayamma International Eye Bank of LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.

Warangal: An octogenarian, Manduva Kamala Devi, who passed away at the age 84 in Hanamkonda on Monday, donated her eyes to Ramayamma International Eye Bank of LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.

Kamala Devi is a native of Pegadpally village, Hasanparthy mandal. She actively took part in the struggle against Razakars. Her family members contacted LV Prasad Eye Institute soon after her demise and a team of technicians and doctors have arrived here and collected the eyes.

‘It is her last wish to donate her eyes as she intended to provide vision to those with visual impairment and we are pleased at fulfilling her wish,’ the family members Manduva Prabhakar Rao, Manduva Sathish Kumar, Santhosh M and others noted.

According to the Eye Bank officials, there was a huge need for eye donation there were a very few donors. ‘Donating eyes is a noble and humanitarian gesture towards the blind people in our country,’ they said in a certificate of acknowledgement.
