KTR says Opposition running out of ideas to corner govt

Sircilla: In what is termed as a role reversal in the State politics, the TRS government has upstaged all its predecessors, especially the Congress, while dispensing good governance, MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao has said.

Addressing a meeting after inaugurating Agriculture Polytechnic College at Sardapur on Friday, he said: “The Assembly is witnessing a dramatic role reversal between the Opposition and the Treasury benches.”

Once the ruling party leaders were nervous and apprehensive facing the Opposition leaders in the Assembly as the latter used to corner them by displaying withered crops, lanterns, noose etc., he said.

“Gone are those days. With the government doing its best for the people’s welfare, the Opposition leaders have gone bankrupt of ideas on what to make an issue,” KTR said, referring to an incident in the Assembly when the Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy was giving clarification on issues raised by the Opposition.

The Opposition doesn’t have the patience to listen what the Minister was trying to clarify to the questions raised by them, he added.

Since the Independence, once the Central government had waived Rs 55,000 crore crop loans in the country, but Telangana, the youngest State of the nation had alone waived Rs 17,000 crore crop loans in just three years, KTR said.

Stating that the Congress-led Punjab, known as the country’s grain bowl, is taking a cue from Telangana government as it sent a delegation to take note of how to implement the loan waiver in their State, KTR said that it’s time for the Congress leaders to stop raising hue and cry over on every issue.

Referring to the government’s fertiliser scheme to give Rs 4,000 per acre twice annually to be implemented from next year, he said that even the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had enquired about it with the Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar.

Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar, Vemulawada MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh and Collector Krishna Bhaskar were among others present.
