Khammam: The Communist Party of India has threatened to hold a road blockade on August 31, on the Bonakal road in protest against the government for delaying the road laying works between Bonakal and Allipuram.

Speaking at a meeting organised with the One Town area committee of CPI party under the leadership of the Chamakuri Venkanna at CPI party office in Khammam on Tuesday, party leader B J Climont alleged that the road works between Bonakal and Allipuram, which started a year ago, were not completed yet due to which people were facing severe hardships.

He stated that after Wyra road, huge number of vehicles, especially buses towards Vijaywada, pass through the Bonakal road. Due to the negligence of officials, the road laying works are still half through.

He further added that the craters and potholes on the existing poor roads were causing several accidents leaving many people injured. Despite repeated pleas to make repairs to the existing roads or complete the works of Bonakal road, there was no response from the officials, he criticised.

In protest against the official apathy, a road blockade programme would be organised on August 31, he said, urging the party leaders and activists to actively participate in the programme in large numbers and make it a grand success. Party leaders Anugu Gandhi, Saida and others attended the meeting.
