Fountains to add beauty to city

As part of the beautification process, GHMC has come forward to take up the construction of fountains on main roads that fall under its jurisdiction. The mayor inaugurated a flamingo fountain at Masab Tank cross roads on Thursday. The fountain tank was sponsored by Canara Bank, Masab Tank. The amount sponsored by the bank was to the tune of Rs 3.5 lakh.

M T Krishna Babu, GHMC Commissioner, and Mohammed Majid Hussain, Mayor, are making all efforts to involve corporate offices and nationalised banks to come forward for sponsorship on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) module to ensure that the entire city is beautified. The Mayor said that currently the GHMC was maintaining 75 fountains at various important locations within its limits. These fountains are a mixture of different types like, the ball fountain, cascade fountain, mist fountain and many other such theme based fountains. The maintenance of all these fountains will be done by the Urban Biodiversity Wing of the GHMC.

Present at the inauguration of the flamingo fountain were N Chandra Mohan Reddy, Additional Commissioner (Urban Biodiversity); Ramesh, Director, Urban Forestry; A V Ramani, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Circle-7, and other senior officials of the GHMC.
