Stepping into the hall where the exhibition ‘Artistic Strokes’ is on at Beyond Coffee one can experience the journey of life with all its varied elements like auspiciousness, spirituality, social issues, men-women relationship, value of money or the importance of love and care- all in one platter. That is the canvas that ‘Artistic Strokes’ by Madhu Kuruva offers to all.

The series of paintings that he is showcasing starts with Ganesha, considering the auspiciousness of this Hindu deity, followed by those pertaining to social issues like male domination, women’s insecurity and then comes a very special titled ‘Rupee’ made in mixed media. “The painting ‘Rupee’ is one of my favorite because of various reasons. The idea of my painting has come from a song of the Telugu movie ‘Vedam’ that talked about the value of money in human life. I have expressed the song visually,” said the painter who won an award recently for the same painting - Telugu Book of Records 2013.

The combination of red and blue colours he has put in stands out; for, red stands for the instability of life in the absence of money, while blue symbolises the harmony of life. Madhu, who started his journey as a painter eight years ago and has showcased his works in India and abroad, including places like New York, Indonesia etc, has chosen various media to showcase his works, starting from pencil sketch, acrylic and mixed media on canvas.

The series of paintings has ended up with two different subjects, Buddha and a pencil work of Mother Teresa with her evergreen smile on face. “All we need at the end of our life journey is peace and calmness,” he said. So, when Lord Buddha depicts peace and spirituality, there is no better way to feel the power of love and care in human life than looking at the portrait of the novel achiever lady who has won the heart of many with her work for peace.
