It is indeed a visual treat even for fastidious art connoisseurs to see our very own mythological characters from Ramayana – Rama and Sita standing together along with Lakshmana, while Hanuman is paying his respects to them with his folded hands, as part of Lladro porcelain sculptures. The luxury porcelain company has launched its latest collection ‘The Spirit of India’ edition at its showroom in Panjagutta.

“This is a very special occasion for us. We have come up with this limited edition of sculpture titled ‘Ram Darbar’. We are celebrating our 60th anniversary and the festive season has started. Diwali is coming. So, this is the right time for us to introduce this collection,” said Angeles Lladró, Vice President, Lladró.

The fine detailing of the sculpture with aesthetics oozing out of every single model has been designed and executed by Raúl Rubio who had come up with the idea of Ram-Sita sculpture. “The artist Raúl has been working exclusively with us for a year along with 11 other artists in Spain. We have completed the collection of Ram-Sita with the addition of Lakshman and Hanumanji in the new collection,” she added.

The brand has already launched different sculptures based on Indian deities and historical characters like Lord Ganesh in different postures, Lakshmi, freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi and the like. Besides, they are working on some other Indian mythological episodes. “We are not disclosing about the upcoming collections as we would prefer to keep it as secret,” said Angeles.

Although Lladro is a luxury brand and the collection is rather expensive, Hyderabad has been a preferred market for such art pieces. “Buying Lladro sculpture is a one-time investment and it is expensive because of its porcelain material. But people are aware of it and they are ready to spend money. So, we have been getting positive response from 2007, when we started here,” she said.

Apart from the ‘Ram Darbar’ edition, they have introduced an innovative and colourful collection of chandeliers on porcelain art, the signature of the brand. “The art of chandelier is mostly dominated by crystal or metal where we have brought the collection with our porcelain material. I hope people are going to love this creation.” So, it is a good opportunity to decorate home interiors with the new collection of Llardo during the upcoming festive season!
