Hyderabad: TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has stated that the party membership drive was a phenomenal success with enrolments crossing 50 lakh in 10 districts. “Although we fixed an initial target of 30 lakh, enrolment figure surpassed our expectations thanks to the immense faith reposed on us by people”, he said.

  • Over 50 lakh members enrolled in 10 districts
  • Individual insurance policy to each member
  • Dates of internal committee elections slightly altered

Rao chaired a review meeting at Telangana Bhavan on Friday where he gathered information on how the membership drive was conducted in 10 districts, with Friday being the last day. Later addressing the media, he said that digitization process (uploading details of all members online) was still in progress. It may take few more days and hence an extension up to February 25 has been given to complete technical formalities, he said.

The internal committee elections will be held subsequently - March 5 to 20 village committee elections, March 24 to April 6 mandal committee elections, Rao said. Further, the Chief Minister stated that district committee elections would be held later, the date to be announced later. On April 24, delegates meeting would be held at LB Stadium where the party state president would be elected.

On the eve of party formation day (April 27), a big public meeting would be held in Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, he stated. Individual insurance to each member Moving away from the practice of group insurance policy given to party members by political parties, Chandrashekar Rao said that he would offer individual insurance to each member of the 50 lakh family. This would be beneficial to them rather than a group cover, he said, adding that the party was holding discussions with insurance agencies in this regard already.
