Door to door electoral IDs & Aadhar linkage from today
Door-to-door electoral IDs & Aadhar linkage from today.The exercise would be completed by month-end and there will be one BLO with support staff for each polling station. The programme will be taken up in 24 assembly constituencies.
In a bid to weed out fake voters from the electoral rolls, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), on the directives of the Election Commission of India, will be organising door-to-door visit by Booth Level Officers (BLO) in 7,000 polling station areas from Monday.The exercise would be completed by month-end and there will be one BLO with support staff for each polling station. The programme will be taken up in 24 assembly constituencies.

The BLOs will obtain Aadhar and Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) details and in case of door lock, the BLO will paste a sticker with his contact number. Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC, said that the main purpose of the exercise is to see that the real voter is not missed." In the first phase between April 13 and 18, the BLOs will obtain the EPIC and Aadhar details and from April 19-25, the door-lock cases will be taken up.”
“The GHMC had earlier taken up a pilot project in 15 polling stations covering Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. However, the polling stations would also be covered in the present visit as quite some time has lapsed since the pilot was done,” said Ramakrishna, additional commissioner, administration and elections, GHMC.
The prime objective of the exercise is to make the electoral rolls foolproof by getting rid of duplicates, non-existent electors, ineligible voters and deletion of name from previous address at the time of registration at a new address.
The citizens can seed the Aadhar with EPIC by
- Calling the GHMC toll free numbers 21 111 111 and 155304 or CEO toll free number 1950.
- By sending an SMS to 87904 99899 by typing message seedepic<space> VOTEREPIC No <space> Aadhar Number
- Visit a nearby Mee Seva centre with photo copies of EPIC and Aadhar
- Provide a copy of Aadhar, EPIC to the BLO
