While the prepaid auto and taxi services is being operated at the Secunderabad Railway Station for the last three years, the State government has directed the Regional Transport Authorities to extend the service to Nampally, Kacheguda and Begumpet Railway stations.

It has also approved a tentative rate chart of auto-rickshaws which would be further revised by the Core Committee/ Governing Body to be formed in this regard with the representatives from Auto Unions, Traffic Police, Commuters and South Central Railway.

A prepaid auto station at Secunderabad

The tentative rate chart is in nine slabs starting from 0-3 kms to 17.1 – 20 kms. Likewise, the day fare will range from Rs 40 (0-3 km) to 277 (17.1 – 20 km) and the Night Fare for these distances will be from Rs 60 to Rs 331. The list of places will be prepared by the Traffic Police, which will be subject to revision depending upon complaints. “A Committee/Governing Body will be constituted with the representatives of Auto Unions, Traffic police, Commuters, officials of Road Transport Authority and South Central Railways.

The composition of the committee, its strength, its powers and its working system will be decided by the Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Hyderabad City,” according to the GO Ms No 18 issued by the government on Thursday. The Core Committee/Governing Body will meet at the first quarter and at least once in the subsequent quarters and review the functioning of these booths and suggest various measures for improvement.

The maintenance of these prepaid booths will be entrusted to private agencies by floating tender. Successful bidder will be awarded with the maintenance of booths who has to erect the booths with infrastructure and as per the terms and conditions as decided by the Hyderabad Traffic Police and will be subject to revision depending upon the feedback of the passengers.
