Close on the heels of Sania Mirza clinching the World Number 1 spot for doubles, Chinmaya Vidyalaya 12th standard student Yadlapalli Pranjala has won the Asian Closed Junior Championship at the RK Khanna Tennis Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday.

Close on the heels of Sania Mirza clinching the World Number 1 spot for doubles, Chinmaya Vidyalaya 12th standard student Yadlapalli Pranjala has won the Asian Closed Junior Championship at the RK Khanna Tennis Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday.
Pranjala, who was the second seed, beat the top seed and her double winner partner Wushuang Zheng of China 5-7, 6-2, 7-5. Just a day earlier, Pranjala won the doubles title. She and her Chinese partner Wushuang Zheng justified the top billing by winning the doubles title in straight sets. They beat Hsuan Cho and Zhanlan Wei 6-2, 6-4. Pranjala is sponsored by GVK Foundation and is coached by Mohd. Ilyas.
