Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Sunday suspended nine of its officers after they were caught red handed at a 'mujra' party.

GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy issued orders suspending Tax Inspectors Sanjay Kumar working in circle 11, Padma Bhushan Raju from circle 12 and Ravindrudu from circle 14B. Besides them, the Commissioner has also suspended bill collectors Krishna, Narahari, Babu Rao, Gnaneswar and Ranvir Bhoopal.

The mujra party was organised and financed by Narahari at Fathima guest house in Khanamet. About 17 people, including six women, have participated in the party.

Acting on a tip-off, the Cyberabad police raided the guest house and seized 22 mobile phones, six vehicles, packs of condoms, liquor and Rs 21,150 in cash. However, a GHMC official took exception for making mountain out of the mole and said the suspended officers were partying after discharging hectic election duties for about one month. And "all that they wanted was some relief from the toiling electoral duties," he added.
