The Secretary and Correspondent, Sri Venkateshwara College of Fine Arts, Surabhi Vani launched the book, ‘The Spirit and Works of KS Vass’ at JNAFAU, Masab Tank on Sunday.

The book is a compilation of Vass’ works and is aimed to be an inspiration for upcoming artistes. “KS Vass worked hard to get to this stage. My father (PV Narasimha Rao) always said that everyone must choose their own subject whatever they want to do.

He encouraged me to do fine arts. Every artist needs their family’s support to achieve great position. An exhibition of an art show may remain for a week but, introducing it in the book form will last forever,” said Surabhi Vani Devi after launching the book.

“KS Vass wants his images to be in the twilight zone of ambiguity which is midway between figuration and non-figuration. The figures are there but not fully revealed. It is due to the maximum simplification of the form.

There is an air of mystery which takes the viewers to imagine different things in them. The colours breathe freedom. He transforms the perceptible appearances by clever juxtaposition of forms and play of color, tonality, light and shade to visuality objectify the hidden reality,” said Rukmini Devi, who compiled the book.

“A picture can speak for itself and whatever it says to the viewer is itself the right message. Art is universal and has no limits. It teaches universal brotherhood. I am a lover of nature and beauty. Beauty never passes into nothingness. I create works to satisfy my inner self.

This book is about 40 years of my hard work, research and innovation. BA Reddy and my wife Rukmini Devi helped to complete this book. I believe that this book will act as reference to the upcoming generations,” said KS Vass.

Kalaratna BA Reddy, Secretary for Telangana Government, Krishnaveni and B Padma Reddy were among those who were present and shared their views on the book.
