Promoters, nerds and geeks often revere Comic Con as the #BestWeekendOfTheYear, or atleast that’s how the hashtag trends follow. This edition was close to that, though the first day of Hyderabad Comic Con (HCC) was marred by rains. “We thought that rains had played a spoilsport but things started picking up by in the latter half of the day,” said one of the organisers.

On day one artist Vivek Goel conducted a special session on how to draw characters and Warner Bros took the audience through their exciting upcoming movie line-ups like ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and ‘Justice League’ in their session.

The show also hosted a spectacular lineup of events including international guest appearances, exclusive experiential and gaming zones, artist alley, fans sessions, and much more. Of course, there were all the staples of a good, old-fashioned geek extravaganza: cosplayers from Guy Fawkes to Jokers to Baahubali. For the reading ones, around five Comic book titles got launched at the convention on day one.

Day two was something else entirely different. Attendees in thousands who descended on the venue got their fill of pop culture; there were more books, more events and a hell’a’ good number of cosplayers. Icing on the cake, or rather the cake itself was the city’s own, Baba Sehgal. Love him or hate him, he owned the stage with his live-cum-interactive performance.

Virtual reality is the latest obsession for Hitec Hyderabad, HTC, Nodwin and many, hosted numerous VR Experiential and Gaming Zones at the event. Nodwin also stepped things up by having a mix of classic and new tabletop games added to the VR frenzy.

Amidst these the key attractions of both the days were Wand Master Training Booth (By Warner Bros) and WWE Zone. At the Wand Master Training Booth, fans were taught to create spells added with making a video of their experience. While at the WWE Zone fans got a never-before, unmatched experience; a chance to feel, act, and enter the ring just like their favorite WWE Superstar. And trust us there was a lot of John Cena’s “tein tetein tein…”

Another experiential zone was AXN Zone where fans witnessed some of their favourite characters like Sam & Dean, Sherlock, Heisenberg, Dexter come alive. “Four years in Hyderabad and the fans in the city never disappoint. As always we’ll be back next year bigger & better,” Jatin Varma, founder, Comic Con India concluded.
