This weekend was a mesmerizing experience to all the people who visited Lakhotia Institute of Design, Hyderabad. The institute in collaboration with industry leader Fevicryl organised "Artist in Me", a day-long exhibition for students into interior design, whose exhibits were the talking point of the show.

Nearly 50 students from the institute produced around 200 exquisitely made products that showcased their intricate workmanship because each of them makes for a colorful decor in the interiors of any drawing room. Even the waste products were reinvented and given a new look. The redone product caters to the precise requirements of the interiors industry.

Interestingly, each product finds day to day application and also makes for a marvelous décor, depending on the taste of the user. Not surprisingly there was an equal array of dazzling creations that reflected the students’ natural gift for both Indian and western styles-pebble art, bottle art, lamp shades, planters, artifacts, coasters, table mats, cushion covers and wall clocks and vases of every hue, states Ayesha Lakhotia, the co-founder of the institute.

The biggest success was that what were deemed as material worth discarding from the households, have been converted into ‘must have and flaunt’ decorative pieces that brought a natural beauty to the landscape. Ayesha said that they had collaborated with Fevicryl as both wished to provide a platform to the enthusiastic students and bolster their confidence levels.

"Artist in Me" has been inspirational to each of us as we could get attuned to the practicalities that will come in handy as we venture into the career, the students said in unison adding that the occasion did give a sense of individuality for the artist in them.
