Real estate developer, K Raheja Corp in partnership with Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken its commitment to transform Durgam Cheruvu Lake to the next level.

In this regard, the company proposed its three-phase plan to create an equitable environment at the site. “With the endeavour to provide Hitec City with a meaningful waterfront environment, this development is conceived as value addition of the lake and its surroundings along with the social uplift and urban rejuvenation,” said Kishore Bhatija, MD – Real Estate Development, K Raheja Corp.

Capitalising on the existing green and bluescapes, flora and fauna, and rock formations; the lake will be transformed into a space that offers facilities for health and fitness, entertainment, adventure activities, and restoring its scenic beauty.

The GHMC will execute Phase I, which involves cleaning and maintenance of the lake to avoid hyacinths to re-surface. The second phase includes building of a 2.5km jogging and cycling track, with a central median for benches and signboards situated in between the two. There will also be a children’s play area, yoga corner, kiosks, barbeque and picnic gazebos and toilet facilities.

“Adventure sports with adequate infrastructure including rappelling, rock climbing, rope-way, kayaking, will be added phase wise,” said Bhatija. “Phase III of this project will be developed by TSIIC and government agencies. K Raheja Corp will provide the blue print designs for this phase that will see a 0.75km elevated forest walk, which will free ground cover for endemic plant development thereby preserving the natural environment,” he said.

“This phase will also see an amphi-theatre and café fronts being set up,” he added. “This initiative fortifies our commitment to sustainability. We have put into place strict checks to ensure optimal utilisation of resources and adherence to timelines,” said Bhatija.
