Tell us about your initial days in the fashion world!
I do not come from a fashion background and I did not think I would become a designer but fate willed that I become one I guess. I did not learn to design and never went to a formal designing institute.

The first time I designed a costume, my friends liked it and the word spread and a friend requested me to design one for her. Initially, I used to go to a tailor and finally joined teamed with him to design more clothes. Meanwhile, I also completed MBA from IGNOU.

What according to you is a favorite part of being a fashion designer?
The best part is travelling and meeting so many people from different backgrounds. Going through the whole process of designing also is a wonderful feeling. Creating something gives a lot of pleasure and when people like what you created, it gives a push to do better. I also like travelling to villages.

Tell me about your collection ‘Hues in the sun’?
For a long time I have been working with natural colours and used green, pink, orange, fish orange, sky blue and white for this time. ‘Hues in the sun’ is essentially a tribute to the bright season and I came up with six colours. Off-white Khadi Double Layered Dress, Green Khadi Dress with Peter Pan Collar, Orange Khadi Oversized Gathered dress, Purple Khadi Short Drape Dress. When I did a show in Dhaka, I decided to only use natural colours.

Define your style?
I am a firm believer that one should be comfortable in what one wears.I do a lot of Indian style as I believe that Indian women are versatile and people from every region have a different body structure. That makes our work even more challenging. I make sure to imbibe Indianness by using a lot of glass, beads and embroidery. I am inspired by nature and ideas stick in my head for a long time and then I start working.
