Hyderabad City Police in association with Synchrony Financial installed 128 CCTV cameras in the Old City on Tuesday.A statemen from the company informed, “All 128 CCTVs are built with an ‘Automatic Number Plate Recognition System’ (ANPR), ‘Video Analytics’, ‘Mobile Surveillance System’, ‘Command Control Centre’ and ‘Data Centre’.”

The installation came as part of the MOU signed between Hyderabad City Police and Synchrony Financial to adopt communities for installation of a community closed circuit television (CCTV) surveillance system in the jurisdiction of three police stations.

Speaking on the occasion, M Mahendar Reddy, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad “The installation of CCTV cameras is an important step towards making Hyderabad a safer city. We believe the strengthening of the surveillance network in the city will positively impact and improve the safety of citizens in Hyderabad.”

Faisal Uddin, Senior Vice-President and Business Leader Synchrony Financial India, said, “This initiative will help the police maintain a safe environment in Hyderabad and better monitor law and order. At Synchrony Financial we are committed towards the community we operate in and we look forward to associating with Hyderabad Police for similar initiatives.”

The Infrared Night Vision Cameras capture videos in high definition and the Police Department will now be able to save the backup of the videos for a period of up to 30 days. Synchrony Financial has sponsored all maintenance costs for the cameras for five years and the initiative is built on a financial donation of rupees one crore. As part of the initiative the City Policy will now be able to actively safeguard citizens in need of help, almost immediately.

“The CCTV-based video surveillance system involved setting up of IP-based outdoor security surveillance cameras across Hyderabad. The purpose of the surveillance network is to control crime in the city. The security systems are strategically placed to monitor key areas such as building entrances, street corners, elevators, and equipment rooms. The cameras technology will act as a force multiplier and will help in checking crime and violation of traffic rules,” said Reddy.
