Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials along with various residential welfare associations, NGOs, public representatives and corporators celebrated ‘Wet & Dry Waste divorce day’ on the occasion of Valentine’s Day in almost all the circle offices and zones. Various programmes were also arranged in parks and at various important junctions to create awareness among the citizens about segregation of wet and dry garbage.

This unique concept of divorce between wet and dry waste was campaigned on a large scale across the city to promote source level segregation of house hold waste. The public representatives, corporators and officials of GHMC involving residential welfare associations interacted with the officials about the importance of segregation of waste.

As per the directions of GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy, the officials requested the citizens, NGOs to down load Swachh Dooth app on top priority and an SMS on importance points of Swachh Survekshan. The citizens were also informed about Swachh Survekshan survey teams who would visit all the 150 wards. He also directed the people to be alert and to coordinate with the team for proper response.

Commissioner appealed the students, citizens to dial 1969 and to give a missed call and help Hyderabad to bag on top position. He, in turn, informed the citizens that they will get a call back and they need to answer the questions correctly for Hyderabad to be in the top position in Swachh Survekshan-2018.
