Balapur: Sanitary workers staged dharna in front of Meerpet Municipality on Thursday demanding implementation of government order no. 14.
All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) state president Yesu Ratnam said government officials turned a deaf ear to their problems.
“They have been postponing implementation of the GO. Workers are facing hardships with insufficient salaries,” he added.
He said the workers would boycott work till their demands are met. The workers organized ‘vanta-varpu’ programme.
Balapur Mandal CPI President Vijay Kumar, MPTCs Vemula Yellamma, Jandu Sruthi, Bupesh Goud, former ward member Vemula Narasimha Venkatarami Reddy and others were present.
