Hyderabad: The Consumer Day celebrations were held at the University College for women, Koti on Thursday. Famous TV personality and social worker Jhansi, Chief Rationing Officer Chandra Prakash and District Civil Supplies Officer Manohar Kumar Rathod were present during the programme.

Speaking on the occasion Jhansi said that everyone should be informed consumers and be aware of their rights. She rued the fact that a lot of actors endorse different products but they themselves are not aware of the implications of using the product. She further provoked the youth in the audience to utilise the right there is no point in talking of awareness she informed them that she is their torch bearer and shall continue the fight on their behalf.

Chief rationing officer explained the different consumer laws available to the buyers and how the consumers can keep a check the malpractices in the society.

Secretary, Consumer Care Centre Rajam Ganesan explained the history of consumer movements in the world and the frauds in the online businesses and how they can be rectified.
The official from the Legal metrology also explained about the different frauds perpetuated in the market by unscrupulous traders and asked the audience to inform the department.
