Clogged drains cause havoc

King Koti: The recent rainfall clogged the drainage works of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at Gun Foundry in King Koti. The residents were forced to push water with the help of sweepers and electric motors as the houses were flooded with rain water.

Resident of Gun Foundry Remo said, “The drainage was overflowing from the past two weeks and it was only on Wednesday that the GHMC started laying new pipeline, with the sudden rainfall on Thursday the entire pipeline pits got choked and the water entered our houses. It is drainage water so we are trying to pump it using electric motors.”

Another resident from the colony Sujith said, “These sudden rains are leading to total chaos as water is spilled everywhere, drainages are over flowing and trees are being uprooted. GHMC might have to strengthen its deal with such unpredictable weather of Hyderabad.” A cab driver who parked his vehicle near Hyderguda said, “I had to stop when it started raining heavily and within one hour water reached 3-feet and filled my car.”
