East Anandbagh: The railway under bridge at East Anandbagh which is under construction seems to be delayed further.

The East Anandbagh and Uttam Nagar railway under bridge works started at the same time. While the latter was inaugurated, the former is still languishing causing great inconvenience to people

The state government was to complete the work within 18 months on par with the Uttam nagar railway under bridge. But with the completion of the Uttam Nagar under bridge in proposed time, a question is doing rounds as to what had stopped the Municipality to complete the construction work of the east Anandbagh railway under bridge on time.

For three years now, the dismal condition of the under bridge had largely remained the same causing deep trouble to the residents. Expressing his displeasure, PK Radha Krishna, senior resident of east Anandbagh, questioned as to what hindered the Malkajgiri Municpiality to complete this underbridge work which was started along with that of Uttam nagar.

He slammed the municipal authorities for not looking into the problems of the residents and also raised a doubt that the Municipality was deliberately delaying the work in an attempt to propose new fund allocation. He said,”The traffic is suffering and the municipality cannot play with the lives of people.”

Another resident said,” There is no progress in work for three years now and the government officials had failed to keep up their promise to end the work within one and half year time. They lamented that how long will have to face this as there is no possibility for vehicles to commute through the old under bridge and the commuters were diverted into bylanes to connect ZTS, Anandbagh, Malkajgiri road and AOC. It is a back breaking journey with the traffic being stalled for at least 15 to 20mins through these narrow bylanes.”
“With no progress, the government seems to have no real concern towards the welfare of the people. It is an uphill task to daily commute through the bylanes due to the traffic snarls especially during peak hours. The traffic flow gets stalled if huge vehicles enter bylanes resulting in inconvenience and also cause delay to the office goers,” said a frustrated commuter, Ashraf.

The travel through the present under bridge has turned worse for women during nights.” We are scared to take the route through the dilapidated under bridge in the night time as it is dark with no lights,” said Lakshmi, a software engineer.

Apart from this, the road cutting that runs from East Anandbagh towards ZTS road stretch has added to the grievances of the public. The roads that were dug up to lay water pipelines and later planning to extend the road on both the sides have been left unattended for a month now.

“The pipelines which were placed initially for the purpose of drinking water supply are now to be replaced with the other set of pipelines which are comparatively larger in size and we were told that after that the road extension works will be taken up. But, nothing was done since one month and the delay in work has adversely affected the customer footfall,” said Ramesh, owner of Dhanalakshmi stores.
