Hyderabad: Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Bonthu Rammohan fixed first week of June as a dead line to complete road laying works worth Rs 1120 crore to the contractors at a Review Meeting held on Sunday.

He warned to put the contractors in black list if they failed to meet the dead line. The Mayor said that the Minister of Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao regularly monitoring the progress of works.

The GHMC is facing criticism from citizens only on the condition of the roads, he pointed out. Bonthu Rammohan said that giving top priority to the roads, they took up road laying works in- tune of Rs 720 crore from GHMC and Rs 400 crore from Hyderabad Road Development Corporation. GHMC commissioner Dr B Janardhan Reddy instructed the contractors to maintain quality standards in works and complete them in a stipulated period.

He also ordered them to co-ordinate with the officials of other departments. Responding on contractors request to allow the vehicles carrying material after 9 pm in to the City, the commissioner assured them that he will discuss with Police officials. Chief engineers Ziauddin, Mohan Naik were present.
