Hyderabad: United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), the umbrella forum for nearly a million bank employees and officers represented by five workmen unions and four officer’s associations has called for 48-hour strike. All India Banks’ strike would start from 6 am on May 30 and end on 6 am on June 1.

The bank staff are demanding expeditious and respectable wage settlement and opposing in partial mandate restricting wage negotiations up to Scale-III level officers alone.

Indian Banks Association has offered a meagre and unacceptable initial offer of 2 per cent hike in wages quoting increased stress on profitability of banks which is not correct as the Public-Sector Banks have been continuously earning more operating profits year after year. Further Indian Banks Association has restricted the negotiations on officers demands only up to scale III officers expressing its inability due to receipt of partial mandate from some of its members banks.
