Botanical Garden ready for inauguration by KCR

Kondapur: The Botanical Garden here spread over 270 acres is presenting a pleasing look with greenery and colourful flowers all around. The State government’s allocation of Rs 5 crore is contributing to its enhanced beautiful scenario, as it has come a long way from being a spot with dried up grass. Officials are making arrangements for the inauguration of the garden by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao soon.

They have provided an electronic gate at the entrance to make it attractive for visitors and completed construction of the compound wall. Sculptures of various animals on the premises are sure to attract them, particularly children. The environmental scientific centre is bound to create awareness among the young ones on the harmful effects, as also educate them about the significant role of forests, besides the wildlife sculpture specimens that look almost real. The video hall in the centre will screen short films on the harm being done to the environment for the benefit of children.

Residents of nearby colonies who come to the garden to take a stroll can avail themselves of the yoga facility being made available in an AC gym. A special play area has been created for kids. A variety of basic and medicinal plants have been developed along with hotels, tree cottages and tents by the Indian Green Building Council. There are facilities like snacks, water supply and latrines.

Banda Narender Reddy, Chairman, Forest Development Corporation, told The Hans India that creation of many facilities would surely attract more visitors to the Botanical Garden. He said the Google rating of the garden had risen to four star from three star and that of Face Book to 4.3. The corporation had given a facelift to the garden which had been totally ignored, he asserted.
