22,000 quintals of seeds, 1.20-lakh tons of fertilisers readied for kharif in Vikarabad
The district administration has targeted to raise crops in over 1.73-lakh hectares during the current kharif and kept readied 22000 quintals of seeds and 1.20 lakh tonnes of fertilisers.

With the onset of monsoons, farmers has tightened belt to get ready for cultivation during the kharif. Agricultural activity has picked up extensively all over the district.
The area under red gram, the highest, would be 56000 hectares, cotton would be 49000 hectares, maize would be 32,000 hectares, paddy would be 13000 hectares, soya bean would be 4000 hectares, and black gram would be 10,000 hectares.
Keeping in mind the past experiences, 31 subsidised seed supply centers wee set up in the district. The highest number of the seed distribution centers was set up at Mominpet. Two seed supply centers each have been set up in Tandur and Parigi, while the rest of the mandals has two each.
Production of pattadar-passbook and other relevant papers is necessary to obtain the seeds on subsidy.
Earlier, the farmers used to make several rounds to banks to obtain crop loans. But, nowadays the farmers are doing rounds to the banks to get the agriculture input subsidy cheques encashed. Also, some of the farmers are visiting the Tahsildar offices to get the mistakes in the pattadar-passbooks rectified.
There are a total of 2.24-lakh farmers in the district. The government targeted to distribute Rs 243 crore towards input subsidy under Rytu Bandhu scheme. So far, the farmers withdrew Rs 220 crore from banks.
The pre-monsoon showers are triggering hopes of bountiful crop among the farmers, who have been taking part in the agricultural operations with enthusiasm and zest.
The agricultural department officials are advising the farmers to adopt a wait-and-watch attitude instead of cultivating their total land. It would be beneficial to make suitable adjustments when the Nature plays truant.
