Hyderabad: In order to strictly implement ban on plastic below 50 microns and flexies, The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials are inspecting various areas and imposing heavy penalties on those found stocking banned plastic.

This drive would be continuously taken up in all the GHMC circles and its jurisdiction. In the last two days around Rs 1.5 lakh have been collected as penalties from the traders against 500 kgs of plastic waste

Mayor Bonthu Rammohan directed the officials to impose penalty of Rs. 15,000 each on G Nagendra and V Mohan Reddy for displaying unauthorised flexies and banners at TRS Bhavan.

The Mayor appealed to all the political parties and the public representatives to join hands with the GHMC in maintaining pollution-free city as per the directions of the government.

As per the directions of the government, by 2022 single use plastic would be completely banned. In this connection GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy appealed to all the traders and citizens to shun single use plastic suo motu to make the city pollution-free.

Similarly, the GHMC Commissioner also appealed to all the political parties and the public representatives to kindly cooperate with the GHMC by not erecting the banners.
