Passengers who are dependent on RTC bus services in the city are irked over by the attitude of bus drivers who leave them in the middle of nowhere at the end of duty hours

  • As the shift ends the drivers leave commuters at bus depot instead of designated bus stops
  • Passengers have to almost walk 200 to 500 mts from depot to bus stop

Hyderabad: Passengers who are dependent on RTC bus services in the city are irked over by the attitude of bus drivers who leave them in the middle of nowhere at the end of duty hours.

The Telangana State Road Transportation Corporation (TSRTC) bus drivers reluctantly continue to ride the buses into the bus depot leaving the passengers on the way.

“When our shift is done, we halt the bus at the depot and passengers have to walk on their own,” said Venkatesh, a TSRTC bus driver from Mehdipatnam bus depot.

When the question was posed to some bus drivers, the answer was same as they have to retire for the day after their shift ends. Elderly and physically challenged passengers are the most annoyed ones by this attitude of drivers as they have to walk long distances.

Mehdipatnam bus depot is about 500 meters away from the designated bus bay and drivers brazenly drop passengers at depot without taking them to the bus bay.

Passengers demanded that RTC should take action against the bus drivers who are not stopping the busses in the designated bus-stops.

“We have to walk all the way to our bus-stop which almost takes 10 minutes to walk when some buses stop near the bus depot,” said Rajya Lakshmi, a passenger.
