Teen actor Teja cremated

Hyderabad: The funeral of teen actor Narla Teja (17), who drowned in Rishikesh last week, was held on Thursday evening at a farm near Donthanpally of Ranga Reddy district. The body was flown in from New Delhi on Thursday morning. His relatives, Vijay Kumar and Sudhakar received the body at the Rajiv Gandhi International airport and took it to his residence in Kalyaninagar, near Erragadda. Several Telugu film artistes and technicians paid homage to Teja's body. A large number of people visited his residence for a last glimpse. Residents of the locality grieved the death and said that the youngster had a bright future in Tollywood. His parents performed the last rites. Teja figured in films like Indra, Murari, Kathanayakudu, Ramadandu, Sriramadasu and Chatrapathi. He also won the Nandi award in 2002 for Indra. He had gone for a swim in the Ganga on Shivratri along with a group of friends when the incident occurred. Despite many attempts, his friends failed to rescue him and he drowned. His body was found a few metres away from the spot of drowning on Tuesday night.
