Protesting against the drinking water crisis in Uppal, Ramanthapur, Habsiguda, Chilkanagar, Cherlapally, Kushaiguda, Moula Ali and other surrounding areas, BJP Uppal constituency leaders led by State general secretary NVSS Prabhakar organised a rally up to water board GM office in Nacharam on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Prabhakar demanded the government to immediately release Rs 10 crore for digging new borewells and for laying new lines. "Although drinking water is being supplied once in a week, the water board has not taken alternative measures to supply water through tankers," he fumed.
Prabhakar alleged that Jalamandali had become a Vyaparamandali because the officials were only concerned about supplying tankers only on payment basis.
