car catches fireHyderabad : One person was burnt alive when a speeding car caught fire on the PV Narasimha Expressway on Friday evening. The accident resulted in a huge traffic jam with vehicles stranded on the expressway up to five kilometre stretch.

According to Rajendranagar police, the white Swift Desire was proceeding towards Hyderabad from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad when it suddenly caught fire near Pillar Number 179 at Upparpally at around 6.20 pm.

Due to the reasons yet to be ascertained the car doors did not open and the person driving the car was found burnt alive. Even the number plate and chassis number of the car were completely damaged in the fire making it difficult to ascertain the identity of the victim, police said.

Rajendranagar police registered a case of suspicious death under section 174 CrPC and launched investigations. Police suspect the cause of fire could be a faulty gas kit installed in the car. Rajendranagar police appealed to the station house officers of all the police stations in Hyderabad and Cyberabad to provide information of any complaint if received about a missing driver with white colour Swift Desire car. Police also appealed to the general public to give information which may help them ascertain the identity of the victim.
