Hyderabad: Alleging that the Congress party has further complicated the situation in the state by taking a unilateral decision without consulting all the stake holders and political parties on bifurcation of the state, YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and the honorary president Y S Vijayamma resigned from the Lok Sabha and the state Assembly respectively on Saturday. The two leaders faxed their resignation letters to the respective Speakers in Speaker’s format.

Later, explaining the reason for their decision to resign, the party senior leader M V Mysura Reddy said, “the arrogant attitude of Congress party in regard to the division of the state had pushed Seemandhra region into boil. People of these two regions feel that great injustice has been done to them for narrow political gains. The decision to create separate Telangana was against the wishes of the majority of the people. Any such decision should be taken after convincing all regions and rendering justice to all”.

He also lashed at the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu for giving consent to divide the state. Both the Congress and TDP were looking at the issue in terms of political gains. He said the two top leaders of the party had resigned to express solidarity with the crores of people who had hit the streets to fight the injustice meted out to them without considering the consequences. It may be mentioned here that 16 YSRCP MLAs had already submitted their resignations from the Assembly.
